      Wednesday, June 18                COOPER-HEWITT NATIONAL DESIGN MUSEUM,
                                                     LUNCH AT CARMINE'S -- THE FRICK COLLECTION
                                                    
  Registration begins for Manhasset Residents on April 7, and April 14, for non-residents.

                                                                                Our day will begin with a guided tour of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in Andrew
                                                                                Carnegie's upper East Side mansion, with its lovely outdoor space, which displays a virtual
                                                                                cornucopia of decorative and design arts. There will be a special exhibit of the Rococo movement,
                                                                                as well as an exhibit called From Sample to Product, which highlights the design process.
                                                                                Following our tour, we will board our motorcoach and be wisked away to Carmine's for a leisurly
                                                                                and delicious Italian family-style luncheon. Following lunch, we are off to the world-class Frick
                                                                                Collection which will be having a special exhibit of Meissen Porcelain, in addtion to many of the
                                                                                best known paintings by the greatest European artists, major works of sculpture (among them one
                                                                                of the finest groups of small bronzes in the world), Limoges enamels, oriental rugs and other works
                                                                                of remarkable quality.
                                                                                     Fee: $110 includes deluxe motorcoach, entrance fees, guided tours, luncheon, and all gratuities
                                                                                   

             Wednesday, July 23                 A DAY IN SAG HARBOR, LUNCHEON AT THE AMERICAN
                                                    HOTEL AND THE BAY STREET THEATER

                                                                              Registration begins for Manhasset Residents on May 5, and May 12, for Non-Residents.

                                                                              This summer we will be off to the East End and the charming port town of Sag Harbor for our annual summer
                                                                              outing. First, we will enjoy a bit of shopping in the lovely stores, then a delicious luncheon at the American
                                                                              Hotel. Next, just steps away, we will all gather at the Bay Street Theater to enjoy BEYOND THERAPY,
                                                                              starring Kate Burton. Demented therapist, deceptive personal ads, deluded lovers, deplorable food                                                                               service professionals...It's all part of the mad-capped world of playwright Christopher Durang, as he skewers
                                                                              the excesses of the self-obsessed 80's.
                                                                                       Fee: $120 includes deluxe motorcoach, luncheon, orchestra seat and all gratuities.
                                                                                       Bus leaves from Christopher Morley Park at 8:30 a.m., arriving when shops open at 10 a.m.
                                                                                       A leisurely luncheon at 11:30 a.m. will be followed by a 2 p.m. curtain. The bus departs Sag Harbor
                                                                                       immediately following the show.

GREENWICH VILLAGE IN THE 1910's & 20's: OUR FIRST BOHEMIA

New York has been home to "bohemians" since Walt Whitman hung out at Pfaff's bar in the 1850's.  
  But the bohemian generation of the 1910's -- including John Sloan, Edna St. Vincent Millay and Max  
Eastman -- gave Bohemia a specific address when they settled in and coined the nameGreenwich      
      Village. Barry Lewis tells the story of how these bohemians pioneered a lifestyle we take for granted in    
 the twenty-first century.                                                                                                                    

April 13, 3 p.m.
THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK
with Marlene VerPlanck and the Tedd Firth Trio

 The New York Times said "...she may be the most accomplished interpreter of American popular music
 performing today." A studio singer for many years in New York, she has performed with everyone from
Frank Sinatra to Kiss. Marlene has recorded 19 CDs and performs all over the world, specializaing in  
The American Song Book. Her performance will include songs by the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Irving   
Berlin, Johnny Mercer, Rodgers & Hart and a few of her favorite current songwriters. Accompanying  
Marlene will be the Tedd Firth Trio. Tedd is no stranger to New York singers, as he is, at this moment,
a pianist of choice.                                                                                                                             

April 27, 3 p.m.
CROSS ISLAND
The duo of cellist Suzanne Mueller and pianist Elinor Abrams Zayas will be joined by clarinetist Joseph     
Rutkowski, Jr.and will provide a whirlwind tour of musical periods and genres in a concert ranging from a
Mendelssohn Concertpiece and an arrangement of Schubert's beloved Shepherd on the Rock through    
      Piazzola's Libertango, Edwin Finckel's variations on Ann Ronnell's beautiful standard, Willow Weep for Me,
short works by world-renowned LI composers Morton Gould and Leo Kraft, and two Latin tunes by      
Paquito D'Rivera. Come join us for this special afternoon of music.

HERE COMES THE SUN
with Linda Ciofalo and Live Jazz

Ted Firth, piano; Marcus McLaurine, bass; Wayne Schuster, sax; Ken Hassler, drums.

Asin years past. we will once again be presenting Art Exhibits at the Library. We are contemplating a series of 6 exhibits for 2008, featuring the talent of our local artists and community art groups. Our volunteer Art Exhibit Coordinator, Liz     Ehrhardt, is arranging these exhibits, as assisted by the library staff and our      volunteer Art Advisory Committee. The members of the committee are, Francis     Hettinger, Mary Madden, and Olga Steck. The spring series of exhibits include:

Diane Reynolds, MS, Ed., who has had over 20 years of career counseling and
outplacement experience, will meet on a one-on-one basis with those seeking
  help with career options, résumé writing, and interview skills. Appointments are
   available once a month, on Saturdays. For more information and to schedule an

EMPIRE SAFETY COUNCIL DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE
                                   Course will be offered Wednesdays from 6 - 9 p.m.,                      
April 2 and 9 or May 21 and 28

For Manhasset residents 50 and over
     Registration began Monday, March 17 for the Saturday, April 12, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. course.
   Registration begins Monday, April 21 for the Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m. - 5. p.m. course.
                        Registration begins on Monday, May 19 for the Saturday, June 21, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. course.               
  Completion of this course entitles participants to a 10% reduction of automobile
insurance and a reduction of violation points.
